Our Practices…

We want you to have confidence in where your food comes from, and know that it was raised right.

  • Our goats are rotated on pasture throughout the growing season and left on pasture even in winter. We supplement with locally sourced hay, natural goat feed sourced in state, natural goat minerals and watered daily. The ladies are handled daily and you can say very very happy.

  • All poultry including our egg layer, broilers and turkey are all raised on pasture. From the moment they come from the brooder they are placed directly on grass. Our poultry are fed a locally sourced feed in the state of Indiana, watered and moved daily to fresh grass.

Our egg layer live in a nice coop with plenty of room for each hen. They are also fed a locally sourced feed in the state of Indiana and let out in a pastured run daily. We do not supplement with light in the winter, we like to allow them to naturally go through the egg laying cycle.

  • Here at Prairie Hills farm we grow our produce as organically as we can. Starting with our soil. We use nutrient rich compost from our animals and source compost locally . We do not use harmful chemicals such as pestiside’s, herbicide’s, and other sprays. We do use OMRI Certified organic products and row covers to aid in any pest control needed. Seeds are started here on farm and sown by hand. Row and hoop house management is done by us here on farm. And come harvest it will be us who picks, wash and packs your veggies.
